Everyday marks

1. 1Dab the mark with a damp cloth and a drop of mild soap. Light touch, small circles.
2. 2Fingertips everywhere on this one — no brushes, no scourers, nothing abrasive.
3. 3Wipe the soap away with a clean damp cloth and let it air dry.

When it needs a proper wash

1. 1Cool water and a little mild detergent in a basin. No bleach or whiteners, even for stubborn marks — they eat the design before they eat the stain.
2. 2Dunk and swish gently, and give the sweatband a rub with your fingers.
3. 3In and out — no soaking. The peak holds its shape best when the wash is quick.
4. 4Rinse clean, press the water out in a towel, and never wring or twist it.
5. 5Reshape and dry over something head-shaped, in the shade. Never a dryer, radiator or car window.
